Tyra Field’s new accommodation platform is equipped with Halton Marine’s solutions

Halton Marine, the leading supplier of marine HVAC, had the privilege to deliver galley ventilation equipment, fire safety equipment and a central vacuum cleaning system for its client, Italian EPC contractor Rosetti Marino, to be installed in the new accommodation platform in Tyra Field.

Tyra Development Project contributes towards a low-carbon energy future in Denmark

Tyra Field, the largest gas condensate field in the Danish Sector of the North Sea, is being redeveloped to extend its operational life by at least 25 years. The redevelopment project, which began in 2018, includes the replacement of two existing process and accommodation platforms with one new process platform and one new accommodation platform.

According to Total, the operator of the field, after being completed in 2022, the new Tyra platform is expected to deliver approximately 60,000 barrels of oil equivalent (boe) per day, equating to over 200 million boe over the next 25 years. At peak production, the platform will provide enough gas to supply the equivalent of 1.5 million Danish homes. The redevelopment project contributes to Denmark and Europe’s transition towards a low-carbon energy future.

Halton’s scope of supply

Halton Marine, the leading supplier of marine HVAC, delivered to its client, Italian EPC contractor Rosetti Marino, galley hoods and canopies, fire and gas dampers and a central vacuum cleaning system to be installed in the new accommodation platform in Tyra Field.

Highly efficient galley ventilation equipment designed for use in marine and offshore applications

Halton’s scope of supply included Halton KWH galley water wash hoods and Halton KVM extraction canopies.

The highly efficient Halton KWH galley water wash hoods are specifically designed for use in marine and offshore applications. The supplied galley hoods are equipped with Ansul® R-102™, a liquid and chemical fire suppression system, and Halton Capture Jet™ technology, which allows the hoods to operate with up to 30% lower exhaust airflow rates than traditional hoods. With the water wash technology, the galley hoods automatically wash down the grease filters without the need for the removal of the filters from the hoods. Halton KVM extraction canopies are used to capture and remove steam resulting, for example, from the industrial dishwashers and bain-maries.

Fire and gas dampers tailored for potentially explosive atmospheres

Halton’s scope of supply also included pneumatically operated ATEX-certified Halton FDA A0(A60) fire and gas dampers with Super Duplex pneumatic tubing, tailored for potentially explosive atmospheres.

Halton FDA is a type-approved class A0(A60) fire and gas damper designed for use in ventilation systems in marine and offshore applications to prevent the possible progression of the fire, smoke and gas inside the ductwork. In case of a fire, the fuse of the damper trips due to the high temperature and cuts off the operating pressure to the spring return actuator, allowing the spring to close the damper blades. When the fuse has been changed, and the pneumatic air supply is re-established, the damper opens automatically.

Halton central vacuum cleaning system promotes people’s wellbeing while delivering cost savings with a quick payback time

In addition to galley ventilation and fire safety equipment, Halton Marine delivered its Halton ProClean central vacuum cleaning system (or simply just CVC) for installation in the new accommodation platform. The CVC system consists of a PRO 6 SRP Invert Marine central unit, stainless steel piping, and 35 pieces of inlet valves (hose connection points). The CVC system consists of CE-approved components for which the system complies with the CE marking. The CVC system allows six simultaneous users. Because the inlet valves are situated throughout the platform, all areas can be cleaned with 10,5 m long cleaning hoses. The system is also equipped with automatic filter cleaning and a pipe cleaning function. The system is controlled by a frequency converter, and a pressure transmitter adjusting continuously needed vacuum power at the time.

CVC is simply the best and most sustainable vacuum cleaning solution, promoting people’s wellbeing while delivering cost savings with a quick payback time. Instead of circulating micro-dust back to the indoor air, CVC removes the dust right at its source and transports it directly to a waste collector and out of the offshore platform.
